DESCRIPTION
As smart home devices become more prevalent, users grapple with the challenge of managing them efficiently. Existing apps often demand users to navigate through complex menus, a process that can be time-consuming and overwhelming, especially for less tech-savvy or mobile users. There's a clear demand for a streamlined solution.
A voice assistant app offers an intuitive and convenient way for users to control smart home devices with voice commands, eliminating the need for intricate interfaces or physical interactions.
CHALLENGE
How can we create a smart home navigation app that provides a more efficient, intuitive, and engaging way for users to control their smart home devices, while minimizing the need for manual navigation and physical interaction?
My first step in tackling this project was conducting user research for Spotify, enabling a better understanding on users’ needs and problems with the current model.
NOTABLE PAIN POINTS
Complex user interfaces
Most interfaces of current smart home applications are cluttered, and often have poor navigation. This makes it harder for users to, for example, find and control their devices
Poor device integration
Required users to manually set up and configure devices separately, also were tied to specific devices. This limits flexibility, personalization, and ease.
INSIGHTS
Seamless app navigation
While some apps offered advanced features and integrations, they often lacked user-friendly interfaces and personalized recommendations. The aim is to overarchingly provide an application with seamless navigation, as this was often lacking.
Personal Assistance
Juno will provide a more intuitive and personalized voice assistant experience that integrates with a wide range of devices and services whilst continuously evolving through experience. Ultimately, this minimizes the need for manual interaction by cutting out complex and cluttered interfaces
